What can we do during this Restriction Movement Order time other than staying home and minding our own business? Actually, we can do more. We can help others by allocating some amount of money to them.
And spend [in the way of Allah ] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, “My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous.” (Al-Munafiqoon, verse 10)
Allah is testing those who are having financial constraints due to the Movement Control Order. Yes, that’s true.
Allah is also testing us, those who are doing fine even though we are being restricted from going out to work as we can work from home. How is He testing us?
We need to be able to understand that the test for us is to think about others, to give some part of our income to support them as they can’t make any effort to support themselves.
“Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity,” the Prophet said (Al-Tirmidhi, no. 589).
The Prophet Muhammad also was recorded as saying,
“Seven people will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His ….” He mentioned the rest of the hadith, which says, “and a man who gives charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given.” (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity). Agreed upon. ( Book 4, Hadith 652) Sources: sunnah.com
So people, look around and see if your neighbours or siblings or relatives are doing as fine as you do, or that other people around your area or state or country are in dire need of some financial aid. Donate as much as you can, this is your chance to help combat the effect of COVID-19.
Stay home, be safe and donate.
