1. To Strengthen Our Faith.

The nature of faith: it strengthens as it endures hardships. Hold tight and do our best to pass the test!

“We (Allah) will surely test you through some fear, hunger, & loss of money, lives & crops. Give good news to the steadfast.” (al-Quran 2:155)

2. To Remind Us to Be Grateful.

Sometimes we tend to take the blessings of Allah for granted. Allah wants to give us a little reminder to be appreciative towards Him by testing us.

“And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favour of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is (generally) most unjust and ungrateful.” (al-Quran 14:34)

3. To Return Back to Allah.

Too preoccupied with our worldly affairs? That is when Allah’s test would come to the rescue so that we’re called back to the right path, be more devoted and remember Him always.

“There comes a storm wind and the waves come upon them from everywhere. They assume that they are surrounded, supplicating Allah, sincere to Him in religion.” (al-Quran 10:22)

4. To Expiate Our Sins.

Experiencing adversity and hardship are also Allah’s way to free us from our wrongdoings and give pardon to us for our previous sins. Just endure it and be steadfast!

“No fatigue, nor disease, nor anxiety, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that” (Prophet Muhammad PBUH)
